The Fort

The other day during "witching hour",
 otherwise known as Zoe-is-talking-my-ear-off-and-my-patience-is-wearing-thin hour,
I suggested we build a fort, to give my nerves a break.

It was nothing special, but Zoe loved it. She kept telling me to come inside with her,
but it was a studio sized fort.

I love the hair. Curls + Naptime = Frizz!

My cousin, Lara, had a little baby girl a few weeks ago, and after looking at her sweet baby pictures,
I couldn't help but going back to Zoe's.

I know I say this all the time, but she's growing up SO fast.
I look at her baby pictures and it just feels like that was ages ago.

Now she says all sorts of funny things and likes to pick out her own clothes.
I miss the baby phase.

But then I remind myself that we still need to potty train this one and
Ryan has 2+ year of school left, and I reexamine :)

Tonight is cleaning and laundry, so I'd had better get started.

A few more...

Actually got in some more scrapping...

This one has a back story.
Ryan and I both like having noise on in the background. Which is why our Netflix subscription has more than paid for itself. Generally, Ryan starts watching a series and then he gets me hooked on it.
Our new favorite is, "My name is Earl."
And if you don't watch this show you won't understand the joke,
But this is how Earl looks in every picture he takes,
which is why Ryan lovingly dubbed this face,
"The Earl Face."

My little sis is coming to visit this weekend and I'm super excited!
She's gonna let me take her picture by the blue brick wall that I adore,
and we're going to eat cupcakes.
Sounds like a perfect weekend to me :)

Happy Scrappy Sunday

I got my Studio Calico March Kit a few days ago.
Had a ton of funs laying everything out. I've been holding onto these pictures for this kit.
I really like the contrast between the green in the kit and the pink on Zoe's jammies.

I even embossed on those chipboard stars. Thankfully my husband has every tool on the planet and happened to have a heat gun that worked really well. I'm loving embossing even though it can get kinda messy, it just adds a subtle texture.

Unfortunately, I haven't had a ton of time to scrap lately so this is the first layout I've done in about a week.

We're nearing the end of the semester so the days are pretty busy. I think Ryan might have a permanent seat in the electronics lab, he spends so much time there.

Hopefully next semester will be a little less intense, but not likely :)

Happy Sunday.

Holly & Co.

Red, Red, they call me Red

...name that children's book?

Well it's that time of year where I get bored with my "look" and decide to make a change. This year's change was spur of the moment and quite drastic.

Yep, it's red. Well...reddish brown. I like it but I'm hoping the red will fade a bit, it's kinda bright and short.

I cut several inches and went back to a layered bob, not that anyone really cares :)

Also, I'm trying to start running. I say trying, because I'm a bad runner, I always have been. But in 2 months from now, I'll be participating in the Race for the Cure in Salt Lake City, in memory of my late grandmother and I don't want to disappoint her :) I'm definitely not going to be winning the race, but I have some red blisters to show my effort as of late.

(Any friends or relatives in or near the SLC area, feel free to join me - Link to info)

While we're on the topic of all things red, have you tried this yet?

Ok, truth be told, it's not the same as those delicious cupcakes that I keep photographing,
but in a pinch, it definitely satisfies a craving.

Goodnight all!

Back to Scrapping

I haven't had a scrappy post for awhile so I'm going to share a layout that was several days in the making.

To make the background, I punched 25 squares using my Marvy Giga Square punch
Then I punched each of those squares with my Martha Stewart heart punch.
I glued down the squares freehand, and then did a LOT of stiching. I stitched around the large square, then down each row and each column. It took forever, but I love the way it turned out.

I haven't finished the journaling yet, it's kind of personal, so I left it off until after I shared it online.

We're back safe and sound from Utah.
Last night I attended a dinner party full of old friends from my hometown, Highlands Ranch, Colorado, it was so much fun to catch up with everyone. I wish I would have brought my camera.

I'm excited to do some more scrapping this week, I have my march kits coming!

Let's go on an Adventure...

Zoe is really into "going on adventures" as she calls it. Most weekends she begs to go somewhere. An adventure can be any type of place, usually it's somewhere in downtown Rexburg or Idaho Fall, as those are the most interesting places nearby.
This weekend we decided to go on a bigger adventure. Zoe and I came down to spend the weekend with my parents to celebrate my Dad's birthday.

I took the day off work so we could have some fun time together.

This morning we walked around downtown American Fork. It has lots of pretty old buildings, and fun little shops. We even passed by a retro hair salon filled with elderly ladies in curlers, it was adorable.

We took the opportunity to have a mini photo session. I'm kinda sick of taking pictures indoors.

Then we met auntie Natalie for lunch and a trip to Dear Lizzie boutique.
Everything inside was beautiful and we each got a truffle from the adorable bakery.

Then we both took a loooooong nap, it was refreshing.

Tonight, I see ice cream in our future :)

TGIF!
